New Orleans, LA ? Papa Grows Funk team up with the Rebirth Brass Band
for the Howlin' Wolf Thanksgiving Throwdown.This power team of funk is
sure to top off any music lover's Thanksgiving. Papa Grows Funk
started as an all-star jam session nine years ago on a Monday night at
the Old Point Bar on Algiers Point and has blossomed into one of New
Orleans' most successful funk bands. Over the years, the band has
accumulated a huge fan base through extensive touring averaging about
100 shows per year and producing fresh, original music. The Rebirth
Brass Band is known for combining traditional New Orleans brass band
music, including the New Orleans tradition of second line with funk,
jazz, soul and hip hop influences, and has become an institution in
the New Orleans music scene.

The event will be filmed for the 37th Annual New Year's World Rock
Festival for Japanese television to be broadcast on Japanese
television New Year's Eve, December 31st. This Japanese show is hosted
by Yuya Uchida, a Japanese cultural icon, musician and actor, and will
feature Papa Grows Funk, ReBirth Brass Band alongside international
artists from China, Korea, Thailand, Canada, Los Angeles and New York.
Yuya, who also discovered PGF's guitarist June Yamagishi, organized
the annual New Year's World Rock Festival in hopes of uniting
different cultures by using music as the universal language.
