Family Fish Productions announced today a two-night

Orchestra. The concerts will be held on Thanksgiving night, November
26, 2009 and the following Friday at the Hi Ho Lounge located at 2239
St. Claude Avenue in the Bywater section of New Orleans.

The Thanksgiving night performance will be broadcast on WWOZ radio
(90.7 FM and streaming world wide at WWOZ.org). Both shows will be
dedicated to the memories of Big Chief Alfred ?Tootie? Montana and his
brother, the late Trail Chief Edward Montana. The Montanas are widely
regarded as two of the most significant Mardi Gras Indians of the 20th
century for their contributions to the traditional culture of New
Orleans.

The Mardi Gras Indian Orchestra features many of the most stalwart
musicians in the city. The rhythm section is anchored by Kevin O?Day
on drums, Reggie Scanlan (the Radiators) on bass, and Rosie Rosato on
percussion. Several of the performing Mardi Gras Indians will also
play traditional hand percussion including cow bells and tambourines.
The string section includes Helen Gillet on cello and effects and
Harry Hardin on violin (and baritone saxophone). Guitarists committed
to the project include Papa Mali, Camile Baudoin (the Radiators), and
Sam Hotchkiss (Juice). Horn players scheduled to appear include Tim
Green on saxophone and Kirk Joseph on sousaphone.

Several notable Mardi Gras Indians are also scheduled to appear
including Second Chief David Montana of the Yellow Pocahontas (the son
of Edward Montana), Big Chief Monk Boudreaux of the Golden Eagles, Big
Chief Roddy of the Black Eagles, and acclaimed Mardi Gras Indian
vocalist Eric ?Yeti? Boudreaux. Bruce ?Sunpie? Barnes, the Big Chief
of the Northside Skull and Bones, is also scheduled to appear.

The Mardi Gras Indian Orchestra performances are sponsored by Family
Fish Productions, WWOZ community radio and the Hi Ho Lounge. Portions
of the proceeds will be donated to WWOZ.
