Description

New Orleans Friends of Music teams up with Loyola University New Orleans to present exciting masterclasses and a concert by internationally acclaimed virtuosos Lera Auerbach, piano, and Ani Aznavoorian, cello. The concert will feature original works and arrangements by Auerbach and Rachmaninoff.

The two will join forces in a concert on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m., in Roussel Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students and are available through the New Orleans Friends of Music online at www.friendsofmusic.org or call 504-895-0690.

The performance will feature 24 Preludes for Piano, op. 34, by Dmitri Shostakovich, transcribed for cello and piano by Auerbach; Prelude in G Major, op. 32, no. 5, by Sergei Rachmaninoff; Etudes-Tableaux, op. 39, no. 2, and op. 33, no. 2, by Rachmaninoff; and Sonata for Cello and Piano, op. 69, no. 1, by Auerbach.
