Come by the LHC this Wednesday as we continue our exploration of the New Orleans piano tradition and the musicians who keep the flame today.
This week features two sets from Armand St. Martin and an interview with WWOZ DJ and documentarian David Kunian. Doors open at 7pm at admission is $5, free to LEH members and students. The series is sponsored by the Hilton St. Charles Hotel, located at 333 St. Charles Avenue in the CBD. A native New Orleanian and a lasting presence on the local scene for decades now, Mr. St. Martin has performed everywhere from soup kitchens to the Superdome, from the Ritz-Carlton to the Mother In Law, from Harrah's Main Theatre to the Republic, from the Landmark Canal Place Cinema Theatre to Generation's Hall, to from the French Quarter Fest to Jazz Fest. In 2008, he recieved a commendation from the City Council for his "ongoing musical contributions to the City of New Orleans". He has released three albums: Alligator Ball, Sizzlin' and Katrina Anthem. |
