The Trinity Artists Series presents:
LES NUITS D’ÉTÉ - SUMMER NIGHTS with soprano MONIQUE WEAVER, conductor PAUL MAUFFRAY, & musicians from the LPO In its continuing efforts to promote the cultural heritage of New Orleans and its performing artists, the Trinity Artists Series will be hosting a performance that introduces two of our local classical musicians who have achieved national and international recognition for their talents. Soprano MONIQUE WEAVER will be accompanied by conductor PAUL MAUFFRAY leading an ensemble of musicians from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Avenue Sunday, August 9 from 5 to 6 p.m. Both artists are originally from the New Orleans area, and the concert is made possible by Mr. Sammy Steele III and the Dr. Donald & Mrs. J. J. Dooley Fund. MONIQUE WEAVER has recently earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of Oklahoma, where she studied with Marilyn Horne. She has also studied in Graz, Austria, and was awarded first prize in the Leontyne Price Competition. PAUL MAUFFRAY has studied in Europe where he was a recent prize winner in the Bartok International Opera Conducting Competition. He is a graduate of NOCCA and has held conducting positions at opera houses in Prague, Brno, & Vienna. This one-hour operatic and orchestral concert entitled “LES NUITS D’ÉTÉ” will feature vocal music by Massenet, Berlioz, and Richard Strauss, as well as Wagner’s “Siegfried Idyll”. The concert is free and open to the public with reserved VIP seating for those attending the post-concert patron party.
