2828 Canal Street only full-time smoke-free live music venue Wednesday, April 22 Jolly House- Ed Volker, the songwriter, pianist and leader of the Radiators is joined by his bassist, Reggie Scanlan, uber-percussionist Michael Skinkus, and multi-instrumentalist Joe Cabral for an evening of junker blues, boogie woogie piano and soulful songs. SHOW TIME- 8 PM Thursday, April 23 The Cowboy Stew Blues Revue- Southwestern Louisiana guitar greats Lil Buck Sinegal and C.C. Adcock are joined by accordion master Steve Riley for an eclectic set draw from the deep well of inspiration that is Cajun Country. C.C. Adcock and up-and-coming accordion player and fiddler, Cedric Watson open the evening with a rare acoustic set. SHOW TIME- 10 PM Friday, April 24 Jumpin? Johnny?s Blues Party and Fish Fry¬- the harmonica ace and all around musical gentleman keeps the Jazz Fest party going with a performance and fish fry beginning moments after the first day of the 40th annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. SHOW TIME- 7 PM <NOTE> SPECIAL UNANNOUNCED GUEST MUSICIANS ARE EXPECTED TO JOIN JUMPIN? JOHNNY FOR THIS EVENT The party continues as acoustic delta blues stylist Roy Rogers will perform a rare New Orleans set with his band, the Delta Rhythm Kings celebrating the release of their new CD, Split Decision. SHOW TIME- 11 PM Saturday, April 25 K-Josephonic?s Second Line Philharmonic- legendary sousaphonist Kirk Joseph, founding member of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, presents a ?Tribute in Brass? honoring the memory and music of the dearly departed Snooks Eaglin and Eddie Bo. Joseph will lead an all-star band comprised of members of his band, the Backyard Groove and members of the Stooges Music Group as they mine the deep catalogs of both Bo and Eaglin. Milwaukeean and New Orleans R&B professor Paul Cebar will sing and play guitar during the tribute and the close out the evening with a set of original music inspired by the departed legends. SHOW TIME- 10 PM Sunday, April 26 Slide guitar wild man John Mooney will treat blues lovers to a special solo set immediately following the close of the first Sunday of Jazz Fest. SHOW TIME- 7 PM Locos Por Juana, a Miami-based, high energy, 8-piece Latin dance band will light up the dance floor with an inspired set featuring local stalwarts Kirk Joseph on the sousaphone and Charles Joseph, his trombone-playing brother and another founding member of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. SHOW TIME- 11 PM Monday, April 27 Evan Christopher, one of the greatest improvising jazz players to call New Orleans home will present his project, Clarinet Road featuring special guests clarinetist Gregory Agid and bassist Roland Guerin. This show is a preview for the ?Clarinet Woodshed? performance scheduled for the Jazz Fest?s second weekend. SHOW TIME- 7 PM Tuesday, April 28 The hottest new acoustic trio, guitarists Anders Osborne and John Fohl along with harmonica ace Johnny Sansone will present their compelling act. SHOW TIME- 7 PM CCB is the newest act to begin tearing the roof off of clubs across New Orleans. The band features Shane Theriot, the former Dirty Dozen Brass Band guitar shredder; Eric Bolivar, the drummer behind the ?bones of Bonerama and other groups; and Joe Ashlar, the tempestuous keyboardist of Otra!, Good Enough For Good Times and other hot acts. SHOW TIME- 11 PM Wednesday, April 29 Anders Osborne and Papa Mali, two of the hottest guitarists that mine the blues and groove traditions of New Orleans, will perform a rare duo set on both acoustic and electric instruments. SHOW TIME- 10 PM Thursday, April 30 The second weekend of Jazz Fest kicks off with a very special evening. Blues guitar purist John Mooney will present his highly lauded solo performance. SHOW TIME- 10 PM Immediately following Mooney?s energetic set will be a performance by the south Louisiana super-group, Lil? Band O? Gold. This show is the official after party following the screening of the new documentary, ?The Promised Land- A Swamp Pop Journey.? SHOW TIME- 12 Midnight Friday, May 1 Guitar freaks and geeks unite after the Jazz Fest! Jimmy Robinson will perform solo acoustic followed by a set by his guitar collective, Twangorama with his long-running fusion band, Woodenhead. <NOTE> SPECIAL UNNANOUNCED GUEST MUSICIANS ARE EXPECTED FOR THIS EVENT Blues guitar ace John Mooney will close out the evening in style with bassist Reggie Scanlan and guitar slinger Camile Baudoin (both of the Radiators). SHOW TIME- 9 PM Saturday, May 2 The Mardi Gras Indian Orchestra¬- hot on the heels of their ground-breaking performance on Fat Tuesday 2009, the super group will recreate the energy of Mardi Gras with guitarist Papa Mali, sousaphonist Kirk Joseph, clarinetist Evan Christopher, drummer Kevin O?Day, guitarist Camile Baudoin, bassist Reggie Scanlan, violinist and baritone saxophonist Harry Hardin, Mardi Gras Indians Big Chief Roddy Lewis (The Black Eagles) and Second Chief David Montana (The Yellow Pocahontas), percussionist Rosie Rosato, cellist Helen Gillet, guitarist Sam Hotchkiss and keyboardist Joe Ashlar.
