Armand St. Martin performs at Jazz Fest on Thursday, April 30th,
12:45pm-1:45pm at the Allison Miner Music Heritage Stage on the festival grounds. St. Martin's rockin' R&B piano-style will accompany multi-talented 1950's blues hit-maker Carol Fran, while they illustrate such hits as "Sea of Love", "Leavin' It Up To You", "Got You On My Mind" and "Emmitt Lee", to support the music material memorialized by guest author and music historian John Broven from his newly-released book Record Makers and Breakers. This special panel based-upon and featuring Broven's special appearance and new publication, will be headed-up by writer Ben Sandmel, with Sam Montalbano, in addition to St. Martin and Fran's music performances designed to highlight the subject matter. Montalbano is known for booking bands for the former New Orleans Catholic Youth Center and was instrumental in John Fred's introduction to Cosimo Matassa which spawned Fred's 1959 hit "Shirley" out of Matassa's legendary studio in New Orleans. |
